Mr. Rector was born in Pomona, California on December 21, 1943 and graduated from the University of Texas with a B.B.A. in 1965 and his J.D. in 1967. While in law school, he received the Bancroft-Whitney Excellence Award for achieving the highest final exam grade in the class on Creditor Rights. Mr. Rector is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute. He has been a frequent speaker at continuing education seminars and an author on bankruptcy law issues for the Texas Bar Journal and has also been a past lecturer and panelist at State Bar Advanced Bankruptcy Courses. Mr. Rector is primarily engaged in all aspects of Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy and corporation reorganization practice, debt restructuring and mediation, including commercial litigation in both state and federal courts. He is experienced in representing both creditors and debtors with pre-bankruptcy and bankruptcy strategies, as well as asset purchases from bankruptcy estates. He is admitted to federal court practice in the Northern District of Texas, Western District of Texas, Eastern District of Texas, Southern District of Texas, and the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He has been a past president of the Bankruptcy Sub-Section of the Dallas Bar Association. His Martindale-Hubbell rating is AV.
