Mr. Sims practices in the Firm's Estate Planning and Estate Administration Section as well as the Firm's Business Section. He has an active practice handling the probate and estate administration of various kinds of estates including "problem" estates (i.e. estates with no will, a handwritten will, home-made wills, out-of-state wills, etc.). Mr. Sims also has experience in handling guardianship cases.
Mr. Sims is also active in Estate Planning involving the representation of clients in the preparation of wills and living trust arrangements ranging from small estates to estates with several million dollars in assets. Mr. Sims provides his clients with wills and/or living trusts and he also provides them with other types of Estate Planning such as statutory durable powers of attorney, medical powers of attorney, directives to physicians and declarations of guardian in the event of incapacity.
Mr. Sims has substantial expertise in corporate law and finance including sales and acquisitions of businesses and all forms of business agreements and operational matters. He has handled many corporate transactions including handling the legal work for venture capital transactions involving corporate debt, preferred stock, common stock, special and annual shareholders' meetings, acquisitions and dispositions of businesses through sales of stock and sales of assets as well as the formation of corporations, limited liability companies, and other entities.
Mr. Sims was born in Mexico, Missouri on April 12, 1943. He is a former Chairman of the Administrative Board of Spring Valley United Methodist Church and a former President of the Prestonwood (Dallas) Rotary Club.

Mr. Sims also has an extensive corporate background arising from his former positions as General Counsel and Secretary of Aviall, Inc. a local NYSE corporation as well as Assistant Secretary and Attorney for Braniff International.
Mr. Sims served as Chairman of the Corporate Counsel Section of the Dallas Bar Association from 1987 to 1988. He has lectured on buying and selling businesses for the Dallas Bar Association and has also lectured for the Counsel on Education and Management on representation of clients before the EEOC, Wage and Hour Administration, and Texas Employment Commission. Mr. Sims has also received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
