Mike Dodge is a native of Texas. He has 35 years of legal experience and a broad background in banking, general business, and financial litigation.  His practice otherwise consists of counseling employers considering or implementing non-subscription to workers’ compensation insurance under the Texas Workers’ Compensation Act. This includes analysis of burdens, benefits, mechanics and injury-risk transfers. Mike understands all the alternative insurance coverages and injury benefit programs in the Texas non-subscriber marketplace.  More than 6,000 Texas employers have installed Mike’s alternative workplace injury benefit plans under ERISA since 1990.

Mike has been class counsel in approximately 20 commercial class actions.  He was employers’ class counsel in Weatherford Roofing Company, a workers’ compensation premium overcharge suit on behalf of approximately 9,000 Texas employers, which resulted in settlements exceeding $213,000,000.  He was also class counsel for 210,000 healthcare providers in In Re: Managed Care (MDL 1334), claiming underpayments for medical services.  In that Multi-District Litigation, Mike helped achieve settlements with CIGNA Corp. and Humana, Inc., obtaining changes in business practices conservatively valued at $260,000,000, and an additional $103,000,000 in net cash recovered for healthcare providers.

Mike is a frequent speaker and author on ERISA Plans for Non-Subscribers, maintains a Property and Casualty insurance license, and is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.  He is a Life Trustee of The Lamplighter School and a Trustee of the Dean Learning Center.  He also originated and sponsors the Friday Backpack (weekend food) Program for the Carrollton Farmers Branch Middle Schools.
